15 Creepiest Buffy The Vampire Slayer Creatures

1. The Gentlemen

Appeared in: Hush (Season 4, Episode 10) There really can only be one monster that tops the list of Buffy's creepiest creatures; the silent-but-deadly Gentlemen from one of the series' best ever episodes, Hush. When everyone in Sunnydale loses their voice, Buffy and her friends know something is up (or so they tell each other through mime). And they are right. It turns out that this curious affliction is due to the Gentlemen, creatures from an old fairy tale made real. The Gentlemen need to collect seven hearts from every town they visit (some of us collect postcards or keyrings from places we've been, some collect hearts) and so remove the townspeople's voices while they do their work - they take your voice so no one can hear you scream. Brr. With their pale faces and the dress sense of a Victorian undertaker, the Gentlemen are an example of a fantastic design - so good in fact that it surely inspired Doctor Who's own Silence a few years later. Everything about the Gentlemen oozes terror - their fixed smiles, the way they glide about the place, their leather bags with horrific surgical equipment inside - so it's no wonder that they are Buffy's creepiest creature. Actually, you could go as far as to claim that they are not only Buffy the Vampire Slayer's best monster but one of the scariest creatures ever on TV. And that's something you can't say anything against. Mainly because the Gentlemen have stolen your voice... Is this list only creepy because it's got it so scarily wrong? Or are you not going to sleep tonight after being reminded of these terrifying demons? Have your say in the comments section below!
