Appeared in: Nightmares (Season 1, Episode 10) Only ten episodes into its run, Buffy was already delivering the scares. In one of the show's eerier episode premises, Nightmares sees the, well, nightmares of the people of Sunnydale come to life - including this cosmetically-impaired fellow. With a disfigured face and a fleshy club for a hand, the Ugly Man is scary enough on his own - but it is revealed in the episode that there is a real terror beneath the nightmare. The nightmares across town are found to be due to the trauma of a comatose small boy. When the boy wakes up we learn that the Ugly Man was the manifestation of the boy's worst nightmare - his baseball coach who nearly beat him to death. While most Buffy creatures are of a supernatural origin, the evil of the Ugly Man comes from a very grounded source, making for one of the creepiest monsters on the show.
