Appeared in: Ted (Season 2, Episode 11) Like The Ugly Man, Ted is a villain who mixes a real-life evil with a unique Buffy twist, In this case, Buffy's overbearing could-be-stepfather turns out to be a robot. Sunnydale's a mad old town, isn't it? When Joyce reveals she is dating again, Buffy is suspicious of the object of her affections - the cookie-baking Ted who seems to embody 1950s values. Although her mother can't see it, Ted is vindictive to Buffy, even threatening to hurt her when she does something as harmless as cheat at mini-golf. After even a fall down a flight of stairs doesn't stop him, Buffy discovers that Ted is a robot - a duplicate of a mad inventor programmed to find 'his' estranged wife, or any woman who looks like her, and lock them in his bunker so that they will never leave him. What makes Ted particularly creepy is that he represents the actual threat of oppressive husbands and stepfathers (rather than the ubiquitous evil stepmothers that you find in every Disney film). Also, he's a serial-killing robot. The Tedminator, if you like.
