Appeared in: Season 1, Episode 15 - "The Prodigal" Darla was the vampire that made Angelus, who would later become Angel. So basically his mother figure. And his lover. And the mother of his supernatural son. And his constant tormentor, when they weren't lovers. And the villain who occasionally tried to kill him. Weird enough for you? A simple paragraph or two would never do the relationship between Angelus/Angel and Darla justice. She first appeared on Buffy, but was quickly killed in almost unceremonious fashion in the first season. It was... too easy of a kill. When she was resurrected by Wolfram and Hart at the end of the first season of Angel, well... suddenly, Darla was a big deal. Gone was the big hair and bad schoolgirl act from her Buffy appearance. This Darla was a seductress who would gladly sleep with you then kill you - or turn you into the soulless demon she was. She would kill to get her way, but she would also play the victim when it suited her, and knew how to align herself with the right players. That she wound up sacrificing herself to save her unborn child (Connor) was probably one of the most surprising moments of the show, but for the rest of it, she was as creepy as she was gorgeous.
