15 Fascinating IMDB Statistics About Your Favourite Shows

6. Doctor Who: NewWho Is Higher Rated Than Classic Who

Let's just drop a few bombshells about the Doctor Who IMDB statistics, that will no doubt ignite outrage with the diehards. 'Doomsday' (9.2) is ranked higher than 'The Caves of Androzani' (8.8, 8.7, 8.7, 8.7 for each part). 'Logopolis' has the same rating as 'Let's Kill Hitler' (8.2). 'Blink' is the highest episode since 1963 (9.8), and twenty NewWho stories and specials score more than 9/10 on the site. Only parts 1 and 6 of 'Genesis of the Daleks' scratch a 9 for Classic Who. Looking at New Who, it's perhaps a surprise to see that Series 4 is the best-rated, despite the fans' love of Series 5 - 'Victory of the Daleks' dramatically pulls Matt Smith's first series down. Steven Moffat doesn't score lower than a 9 under Russell T Davies, and in his own head-writership, he averages 8.6 (counting specials); Davies only averages 8.2, but three out of four of his series get better, whereas only Series 5 does under Moffat. Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker are the best-loved Classic Doctors despite huge dips in their tenures, and Colin Baker's time in the TARDIS slides hugely, with the Seventh Doctor's regeneration story 'Time And The Rani' scoring an all-time low (Part 4 scores 5.2). And here's a fact for you: 'Love & Monsters' isn't the worst-rated episode of NewWho (6.6), as that prize goes to 'Fear Her' (6.2). In fact, 'Love & Monsters' scores better than the TV Movie (6.3). It's just as well that Paul McGann returned for 'The Night of the Doctor' (9.2), isn't it?
