15 Fascinating IMDB Statistics About Your Favourite Shows

2. The Wire: Not A Single Episode Is Rated Higher Than A 9.0

It's the greatest show of all time, according to many. IMDB users agree that The Wire is pretty damn good, scoring it an average of 9.4 as a show itself: Of those 123,759 ratings, that's basically a load of people giving it a ten, and a handful of indecisives only giving it 9/10. So why, why, why do only two episodes of the show score 9/10 with IMDB? It's a puzzling question, and an outlier in the show's massive popularity. Sure, it's not exactly doing badly on the site - nothing racks up lower than an 8 and every season gets progressively better with each episode - but it's a surprise nonetheless that The Wire, the mighty Wire, has only one more 9/10 episode than The Big Bang Theory. The Wire was unbelievably consistent though, as it surely won't surprise you to find out; the illegal drug trade season averaged 8.57, the seaport system season averaged 8.55, the city government and bureaucracy averaged 8.64, the school system season averaged 8.63, and the print news media season averaged 8.62. British stars Dominic West and Idris Elba shouldn't feel too bad though; West hasn't been in anything as high-scoring on IMDB, and Elba's Luther's never even hit a 9.0. It's still acclaim, from critics and fans alike, that everyone from Steven Moffat to David Moyes dreams of.
