15 Greatest Comic Book Cartoons Of All Time

9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles undoubtedly deserves a spot on this list, due to it possibly being the best Turtles cartoon in history. Put the pitchforks away. Yes, the 1980s cartoon holds a great deal of nostalgia for many people, but ultimately it was massive disappoint for fans of the original comic book. It was just too gimmicky, too cartoonish and there wasn't a great deal of care put into it. The 2003 version is arguably one of the better Turtles cartoons, but Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems to be cementing itself as one of the greatest cartoons in recent time. Whilst it looks rather simplistic at first, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles excels with its story development, fluid action sequences and genuinely funny humour. It blends all of the previous comics and cartoons into one amazing mix, finally providing viewers with a rewarding cartoon €“ and finally, the Turtles act like teenagers. One of the key strengths behind TMNT is the selection of voice actors, as the creators have outdone themselves in selecting the perfect voices for the Turtles. It's a pleasant surprise really, as they've really nailed the characterisations perfectly (yes, that is 1980s Raphael voicing Donatello). Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has a promising future ahead of itself, and here's hoping there's at least two or three more seasons of this perfect Turtle formula.
