Could it be anything else?

The Sopranos finale sees the family agreeing to meet in a diner, where they arrive one-by-one. Eventually, as they come together, the bell of the door rings again, Tony looks up, and then there's a fade to black.

There was no explanation then, and still isn't now. Instead, the moment simply lingers, haunting the minds of viewers and open to all kinds of interpretation, whether that's meaning Tony did indeed get whacked that night, or that it means life just keeps going on under constant threat. At the time, some even thought their cable had cut out.

No TV show, from the Golden Age or any other period, has had an ending so bold or that made such an impact as that of The Sopranos. It's a closing moment that is still widely discussed and dissected today, and probably will be for years to come. Ambiguous, ballsy, and the best there's ever been.
