15 Greatest Performances In Marvel Cinematic Universe TV Shows
9. Alfre Woodard - Mariah Dillard (Luke Cage)
The acting has been a strength of the entire Netflix Marvel Universe, so it's no small statement to say that Luke Cage had the very best cast of any of the shows so far. Certain individuals on other series stood out more, but Cage had so much strength across the board (Mike Colter narrowly missed out on inclusion, Theo Rossi was excellent, and really the only one to let the show down was Erik LaRay Harvey as Diamondback.
One of the biggest standouts, even among a crowded playing field, was Alfre Woodard's Mariah Dillard. A politician, a supposed symbol of hope, a villain - there were a few layers to Mariah, and Woodard nailed all of them.
Dillard goes on one of the most interesting journeys of the show. She starts off as a politician who you believe really does want the best for Harlem, but can't reduce the allure of family ties, money, and the power it helps bring.
In the second half though the shackles are off, and Woodard becomes the most terrifying villain Luke Cage has to offer. Because of Diamondback I don't think the show explores as much of this as it should, but there's definitely room for more in the future. Woodard has established her character as a true power player within this corner of the MCU.
