Some bad guys take their time before showing their true colours. A slow burning hatred of the hero perhaps, or undertaking a long-time evil plan. Not Lou Avery, though. In a mere smattering of episodes, his position as Mad Mens latest baddie emerged triumphant. A temporary stand in for Sterling Cooper & Partners previous creative director and committed misogynist, Don Draper, youd think that would give any newbie the gumption to set an example. Nah. Avery prefers to rattle employees via his holier-than-thou attitude and mistaken notion that hes rather witty. Swanning in over Thanksgiving weekend, essentially bailing out the company, his ego gets the better of him as he proceeds to alienate the staff. Namely one Peggy Olson. Despite the fact he harbours the truth somewhere inside of his stuffy soul, he wont relent and give her ideas any consideration because shes a woman. And shes creative.
