Before The New 52 reboot, the real Supergirl was once again reintroduced to the DC Universe. The twist this time though was that Kara (who still left Krypton as a teenager) actually knew her cousin Kal-El when he was a baby. However, being stuck in suspended animation on her way to Earth meant that by the time she arrived, Superman was nearly twice her age. This version of Supergirl was actually introduced after Darkseid used Black Kryptonite to brainwash her, thus providing him with a leader for his Female Furies, as well as a warrior on par with Superman. The story really emphasised just how powerful the character is, but before she really got to find her footing, DC rebooted their comic books once again, leading to yet another version being introduced. The New 52 Supergirl also landed on Earth as a teenager, but was this time far less trusting of her new surroundings. Unable to speak English and unwilling to believe that her little baby cousin was now Superman, it took quite some time for this Kara to find her footing and embrace her role as a hero, but like those which came before her, she most definitely did.
