True. In the second pilot for Red Dwarf USA, Cat had a sex change. Tony Award-winner Hinton Battle had originally been hired to capture the theatricality of Danny John-Jules's Cat but casting concerns from NBC meant that Rob Grant and Doug Naylor made one huge change for the next try. Enter Terry Farrell, who channelled her inner-Cheetara and did the best she could but even this original switch couldn't save the show and it wasn't picked up for a full series. This left Farrell free to put more clothes on and explore other career opportunities and she didn't stray too far from intergalactic travel, a year later she joined the cast of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Jadzia Dax.
