15 Most Exciting New TV Shows You Need To Watch This Fall

12. Young Sheldon (CBS)

Young Sheldon
CBS

What Is It

A prequel to The Big Bang Theory, focused on - as the title kinda suggests - a young Sheldon as a child genius living with his mother in Texas.

Reasons To Be Excited

Well, it doesn't look too much like The Big Bang Theory, which is a promising sign. It's a single-cam, no laugh-track sitcom, and after so many years of TBBT that's a refreshing change in direction - it also has some episodes directed by Jon Favreau, which should be fun.

Iain Armitage (Big Little Lies) looks very well cast as the young version of Sheldon Cooper, there's some surprisingly well-pitched humour here, and it looks like it has more in common with The Wonder Years than The Big Bang Theory.
