15 Most Hotly Anticipated New TV Shows Still To Come In 2016
8. The Crown (Netflix)
Perhaps fittingly for a show telling the story of the Royal Family, The Crown is set to be one of Netflix's most expensive shows ever (if not the most expensive), with various reports placing the budget for its 10-episode first season in the $100-150m bracket.
That's a lot of cash, and a show of faith in the ambitious project, which is planning on spanning six seasons and sixty episodes. Created and written by Peter Morgan (The Queen), it'll tell the story of Queen Elizabeth II, as played by Claire Foy, from her marriage to Prince Phillip (Matt Smith), through to her coronation, and then right on until present day, including all the major events of her reign and providing an examination of the Royals and the government.
