Going back to the topic of Margaret Atwood adaptations, and Hulu aren't the only streaming service hoping to capitalise on the author's long-standing popularity. Netflix have their own Atwood series coming later this year, based on the novel Alias Grace, itself an account of the true story of Grace Marks.

Grace, played here by Sarah Gadon (11.22.63), was a poor, young Irish immigrant living in Canada and working as a servant. In 1843 she and stable hand James McDermott (Kerr Logan) were convicted of the brutal murders of their employer Thomas Kinnear, and his housekeeper and lover, Nancy Montgomery (Anna Paquin). McDermott was hanged for his crimes, while Marks was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The series, like the novel, will add the fictional character of Simon Jordan, a doctor who researches the case and falls in love with Marks. It's written by Take This Waltz's Sarah Polley, and helmed by American Psycho director Mary Harron.

Air Date: November 3
