Almost 40 years after the original was released, BBC and Netflix are preparing to make rabbits terrifying again with a remake of Watership Down (which was first remade for TV in 1999).

Based on the novel by Richard Adams, it sees Hazel attempt to lead his group of rabbits to safety following the destruction of their warren, navigating various apocalyptic threats along the way. Presumably the Netflix series will, like the movie, feature plenty of bloodshed to totally counter the notion of bunnies being cute.

The series has assembled a heck of a voice cast too, including: James McAvoy, Gemma Arterton, Olivia Colman, John Boyega, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley, and Daniel Kaluuya.
