15 Most Hotly Anticipated TV Shows Of Summer 2017

12. The Mist & Mr Mercedes

The Mist TV Series
Spike

TV shows based on the works of Stephen King have missed the mark quite a lot of the time, but this summer there are two to be fairly optimistic about.

The first is The Mist, which comes from Spike TV. Based on King's novella, and subject to a movie adaptation in 2007, the TV show will take inspiration from the book, rather than being a direct adaptation. It will, of course, still feature a Maine town being enveloped in an eerie fog, and show how its people turn on each other to survive.

The other King TV show this summer is Mr Mercedes, based on his 2014 novel. King described it as his first hard-boiled detective novel, and it sees a recently retired detective receive a letter from a man who claims responsibility for an incident that killed 8 people at a job fair, and begin to investigate the case. It's created by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal) and stars Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway (who replaced the late Anton Yelchin) in the main roles.

Premiere Date: August 9
