Why It's Important: Paul was Beth's monitor before her death right at the beginning of the series, and developed from a character who was a bit of a dick into one you could actually care about. His death marked one of the biggest of Season 3 in terms of original characters, and also allowed Sarah to escape while he died, and her survival is also crucial to the series. It also provided a big emotional beat as well, as his final words are "it was never Beth I loved." Of course, this entry would be slightly different had we definitively found out the fate of Delphine, Cosima's partner who was shot at the end of Season 3. Chances are she's still alive (for that matter, it's conceivable Paul could be as well I guess, because it's TV and apparently no one stays dead anymore), but if not then feel free to revisit this list and insert her here, and then shed a tear or two about it.
