Cause Of Death: Throat slit open by Fernando Vera, and locked in the boot (or 'trunk') of a car. Why It's Important: Because, well, holy sh*t! For anyone who didn't watch Mr Robot (and that's probably a lot of people), you missed out on the show of the summer. An intelligent and exciting show about hacktivism, that also served as a commentary on society, it's one of the sleeper hits of the year, and this was a pretty defining moment. Elliot wasn't exactly great with people, but someone he had gotten close to was Shayla, and the development of their relationship was one of the many strong elements of the show. At first Shayla was kidnapped, which seemed like a plot device for bringing back Vera. But then in the final moments, he revealed that Shayla had been with Elliot all along, tossing him keys to the car. The audience approached this with the same dread that Elliot did, and recoiled with the same horror as it revealed she was lying there dead, her throat slit open. Mr Robot hadn't really utilised 'shock factor' up until that point, but this was a major moment and a turning point just past the halfway mark of the season.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
