Cause Of Death: Shot to death by Lt Kevin Burris and a couple of his henchman. Why It's Important: True Detective Season 2, to put it kindly, was a disappointment. Coming after one of the best single seasons in recent TV history, it had a tough task on its hands, and was nowhere near to being up to the job. One of the brighter parts was Colin Farrell's performance (indeed, all of the leads were pretty solid, with the exception of Taylor Kitsch as Paul 'I have scars on the outside and the inside what do you mean no I'm not gay' Woodrugh), and he was brutally killed in the season finale. While it had always seemed to be heading in that direction, it had much more impact given when it arrived, as he had just found some sliver of happiness in his dark world, a person to love, and was reconnecting with his son, and he was shot down just as a message to his child failed to send.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
