Cause Of Death: Killed by Jiaying in part one of the Season 2 finale. Why It's Important: Raina had been a long-running character on the show, so her death was always going to carry a degree of impact anyway. However, the way it played out meant it was even more important in the events of the season finale. Jiaying killed Raina to stop her revealing Jiaying's role in creating a war against S.H.I.E.L.D. What she didn't know, though, was that Raina had already seen the death coming, and allowed it to happen so that Skye would witness it, thus knowing her mother's true motives and being able to stop her. Without Raina's death, a full-blown Inhuman war against S.H.I.E.L.D. might have actually happened. Which, y'know, would've been awesome to see, but not great in terms of leaving characters alive for the future of the show.
