The Show: High school teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) decides to become a crystal meth dealer with student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after a grim cancer diagnosis, intent on amassing a fortune to leave behind for his family. And that's just the beginning. Why It's Overrated: Fantastic though Breaking Bad is, it's one of those shows given such rapturous praise by so many that it could easily work against those who didn't start watching it ahead of the hype. The various claims that it's the greatest show of all time or even the best work of fiction (yes, really) only serve to set some up for disappointment when they finally watch the show and expect ground-breaking TV. It's superb drama, no doubt, bolstered by great writing, acting and cinematography, but if you're expecting to have your life changed by an Earth-shattering work of TV, then you're going to be let down, just as you might be with pretty much anything with expectations that impossibly high. The show is an all-timer, for sure, but those who love to proclaim that it can make the lame walk and the blind see are just ruining the fun for everyone else. Measure your praise, folks! Which TV shows do you find to be the most overrated of the decade so far? Shout it out in the comments!
