Tyrion Lannister's journey to Daenerys Targaryen was very swift on the screen in comparison to the books, where his journey to reach her is still yet to come an end after being depicted across the 959 pages of A Dance With Dragons. Said journey can be split into two halves, the first of which involves another Targaryen altogether and the second of which involves him being kidnapped by Jorah Mormont and subsequently enslaved alongside him.

Tyrion encounters a great number of new characters during this journey, nearly all of whom were cut from television. The most prominent addition to the second part was Penny, who was retroactively stated to have been one of the dwarf performers at King Joffrey's wedding along with her by then-deceased brother Oppo. She becomes enslaved alongside him, where Tyrion assumes Oppo's role in her pig-jousting act.

Penny may become a love interest of Tyrion's if the preview chapters of the Winds of Winter are anything to go by and will probably make him overcome his past tragedies with Tysha and Shae that have sworn him off love. She is not a popular character, however, and attracts almost as much hate in online communities as the widely-loathed Olly. The show's creators most likely took this into account when streamlining his journey to Daenerys, and probably had no intention of ever humiliating their most popular character by making him ride a pig anyhow.
