Of late, the cast of Glee has suffered from some terrible misfortune. The recent tragedies involving various cast members began way back in 2013, when actor Cory Monteith passed away before season five of the show.

Though it was inevitable that the show would tackle the death of Monteith (and the gap caused by Finn Hudson's absence), nothing could have prepared fans for Season Five's episode "The Quarterback."

In the episode, Mercedes performs "I'll Stand By You", Santana sings "If I Die Young", and everyone finds emotions running high as they confront each other and themselves in their grief. Not one scene of the episode is easy to watch, but the two saddest moments come from Rachel, who performs "Make You Feel My Love" at the memorial, and from Glee Club director Will Schuester.

At the end of the episode, it is revealed that Will has taken Finn's jacket. Letting himself feel the full extent of his grief, Will breaks down and the screen cuts to a quick memorial for Cory Monteith, an actor gone far too soon.
