15 Sci-fi TV Shows That Ended Too Soon

7. Jericho

The Beginning:

Set in the eponymous Texan town, in the aftermath of a nuclear attack on the US, Jericho was the brainchild of Jonathan Steinberg (now of Black Sails fame) and Josh Schaer, who both wanted to create a character drama amid the starkest of settings.

The result was a show that started out with plenty of scavenging escapades but broadened into an exercise in rebuilding with some added blasts of intrigue to boot. Who can forget the neat little Morse code-embedded intro credits, too.

The End

Jericho has one of the more interesting cancellations in TV history; originally cancelled in 2008 having ran for one season to poor ratings, a now infamous fan campaign (nut, anyone?) saw the show resurrected for a shortened second season.

People power may have prevailed, but the viewing figures were – again – not quite there, so the second coming of Jericho was a short one.

While there are no signs of the show being revived – it’s enjoyed a third and fourth season in comic book form – this does beg the question, why the hell not have another roll of the dice but make it a Fallout TV show? We can dream.
