15 Small Details You Only Notice Rewatching Star Wars: The Clone Wars

14. Anakin And General Grievous Never Meet

In what might just be the funniest aspect of The Clone Wars, series protagonist Anakin Skywalker and revered Separatist leader and Jedi killer General Grievous never once meet on screen.

Whilst it would be fair to assume that the two warriors would clash at least once during the wars, they're always seen missing one another because of poor timing or coincidence.

The reason for this can be found in Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin and Obi-Wan are captured by the general after they save Chancellor Palpatine. There, Grievous says to Anakin: "I was expecting someone with your reputation to be older."

Since Revenge was released before The Clone Wars, Dave Filoni and the show's writers had to spend seven seasons doing narrative backflips to make sure they didn't ruin the continuity of the movies.

Anakin nearly meets the general during the Separatist attack on Kamino in season three, and during his and Obi-Wan's rescue of Jedi Master Eeth Koth. The show covered up their lack of screen time by focusing on the rivalry between Grievous and his eventual killer, Obi-Wan.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
