11. Voicing The Clones

On the surface, it would be fair to say that Dee Bradley Baker had a pretty easy job in voicing the clones, what with them having the same voice and all.

But that's not fair, as can be seen when looking at Baker's commitment to the task. In order to make each clone seem a fully formed and unique character, the actor would record each voice whilst putting different emphasis on certain adjectives. In the earlier seasons, he would record each of the clones' lines in a scene separately, but by the end of the show he could do all the clones in one take.

On re-watches, it becomes increasingly clear just how much of a difference this approach makes, making clones sound younger, more naive, or hardened just by messing around with the words he uses. The clone who got the most work behind-the-scenes was Captain Rex, who serves as the show's lead clone and required a lot more effort to separate from his brothers.
