Rainn Wilson had the enviable experience of playing the legendary con man and charmer Harry Mudd in two episodes of Discovery and in an episode of Star Trek: Short Treks, which he also directed.

Wilson rose to prominence as an actor long before Discovery came knocking. He is most well known for his role as the eccentric Dwight Schrute on the American version of The Office. He has also had roles in big-budget films such as Galaxy Quest (a loving Star Trek homage), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, The Meg, Monsters vs Aliens, and House of 1000 Corpses. He is also known for extensive voiceover work on several popular animated series and movies.

Star Trek: Short Treks are a series of short live-action episodes that tie into Discovery and Picard. Each episode runs between 15 and 20 minutes.

Wilson played Harry Mudd in 'The Escape Artist', which he directed himself in. His character is slated to return for future episodes of both Discovery and Short Treks.
