15 Superhero Voice Actors Who Totally Nailed Their Characters

7. Clancy Brown: Lex Luthor

Away from animation, Clancy Brown will most likely be recognised for his role in The Shawshank Redemption, where he played Byron Hadley. Recently, he starred in Marvel's Daredevil as Frank Castle's superior from his army days, but most will probably recognise his voice from either A: Crash Bandicoot (as Neo Cortex), or B; Superman: The Animated Series, where he played Lex Luthor.

Brown's turn as Lex made for some brilliant scenes, with the character's relationship with Superman taking many twists and turns throughout STAS and, in perhaps his most interesting stint as the character, Justice League, where Lex was diagnosed with cancer as a result of his Kryptonite collection. He still retains that villainous edge throughout the show, but it's offset by a decidedly less dogmatic shift in the character's attitudes towards his adversary - one that culminates in Luthor teaming up with the League to save the world.

Brown's stint as Lex is, like many of the other characters in the DCAU, fairly definitive. And for such an iconic character that's no easy feet, particularly when the likes of Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey have graced the role on previous occasions.
