15 Things You Didn't Know About Kat Dennings

3. She Got Her Start On Sex & The City

Dennings' first ever significant acting part was on a September 2000 episode of the hit HBO show Sex and the City, Hot Child in the City, where she played an obnoxiously precocious 13-year-old Jewish-American princess named Jenny Brier, who hires Samantha (Kim Catrall) to organise her million dollar bat mitzvah celebration. This leads to a hilarious and memorable moment in which Brier bumps into Samantha at lunch and refers to Sarah Jessica Parker's protagonist Carrie Bradshaw as "f***ing fabulous"...twice. It was an early indicator of Dennings' talent in comedy, and reportedly because her family were so strapped for cash, her appearance on this show was the sole reason they got cable TV, just to be able to watch their daughter's first on-screen role. Unlike many actresses, however, Dennings isn't embarrassed about her origins, stating, €œIt changed my life, it really did. I was a home-schooled kid living in the forest. I didn€™t have cable. I€™m serious."
