15 TV Seasons That Are Totally Flawless

10. The Americans - Season Six

Better Call Saul
FX

The final season of the oft-underrated but consistently compelling drama series The Americans did an almost impossible thing for a modern show, by ending on an undeniable high, and even surpassing the brilliance of its predecessors.

Set in 1987 with the Cold War drawing to a dramatic close, married Soviet spies Philip and Elizabeth Jennings find themselves more divided than ever, as their loyalties are tested to the breaking point and a series of devastating secrets lie in wait, ready to tear apart their hopes for a normal life with their family.

Like the seasons before it, The Americans' final run features a brutal, breakneck pace, a series of commanding central performances and higher stakes than ever. For thirteen episodes, the season moves easily through its tricky themes and various plot threads, to craft a perfectly-realised conclusion that ties everything up with wonderful results.

Gutted we won't get anymore disguises, though...
