Bill Hader is a master at genre bending and Barry is a career high for him. Adept at mixing drama in with its comedy, Barry feels fresh and driven and entirely comical from the beginning.
While Hader's fingerprints are all over every aspect of this show, the secret weapon here is actually Anthony Carrigan who is ludicrously funny as NoHo Hank, a small time Czechian gangster who fully embraces his flamboyant and jubilant attitude and has a mild obsession with Barry.
Barry is a great action show as well as a smartly written comedy and is smashing all other black comedies out the park right now. It is the best kind of nonsense and is thoroughly enjoyable form the offset.
