15 TV Shows That Are The Current Best Of Every Genre

The Handmaids Tale Season 2
Hulu

Elizabeth Moss shines in this dystopic nightmare of a fundamentalist state looking to control the few fertile women left in society. In the totalitarian land of Gilead, June Osbourne is kidnapped from her family and given to a high ranking military commander where she is expected to carry the children of he and his wife.

The Handmaid's Tale is a dark and heavy show and it isn't exactly light watching. If you're looking to relax and stick an hour of TV on in the evenings, you'd be better off looking elsewhere as this show is more likely to induce high levels of stress and anguish.

Elizabeth Moss is the consistent standout here as she has to equally deal with the oppressive society she finds herself in and the fact she is slowly losing her mind thinking about all the ways she wants to hurt the people imprisoning her. June is not a passive protagonist, she is rebellious and defiant and her outbursts only get more bold and tense to watch.

The other performances are stellar across the board featuring increasingly impressive work from Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, Bradley Whitford, Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes and many more.

Now in its fourth season, The Handmaid's Tale continues to raise the stakes as the viewer is fully committed to finding out if the handmaids can escape the horrors they find themselves in.
