12. Jericho

Dollhouse TV
CBS

5 years after leaving without a trace, Jake Green returns home to the sleepy American town of Jericho to claim his inheritance and start a new life. But before he can leave, a devastating nuclear attack destroys 23 major cities cutting off the town from the rest of the world.

The immediate chaos that follows, the effects of the aftermath on the inner workings of the tightly knit community and the slowly unravelling conspiracy surrounding the attacks, all help to draw you in and keep you hooked.

The strong characters, explosive action and believable story make Jericho an essential watch and it's no wonder that following the show's cancellation, fan backlash secured a short third season (and subsequent graphic novels) to help wrap up the story.
