15 Ups & 0 Downs For Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2

10. UP — New Nova

Star Trek Prodigy Into The Breach Part I Maj'el Nova Squadron
CBS Media Ventures

As Seán pointed out in his Ups & Downs for episodes 1-5, it was probably about time Nova Squadron as an entity got a second chance. By the time of the opening events of Star Trek: Prodigy's second season, Nick Locarno had been a planet for about three years, and Wesley Crusher had certainly left the whole debacle behind a long time ago.

If anyone could redeem the name, it was this group of candidates. Good luck trying to get Grom (a Lurian) to "cut the chit chat and concentrate," however! A brilliant reference (in Ascension, Part I), moreover, to everyone's favourite warmer of bar stools.

This time, Nova Squadron was done right and done right by. Vulcan Maj'el was a particularly astute, dare I say, logical, addition not just to the squad hopefuls, but to the series in general. The Nova flight and fight sequences in the Ascension two-parter were also heart-poundingly spectacular and masterfully animated. Boothby really would be proud!
