12. Pilou Asbaek - Euron Greyjoy
This Danish actor is evidently talented but his turn in Game of Thrones as the villainous Euron Greyjoy was completely misjudged. Rather than being nuanced or sinister,Pilou Asbaek was just hammy as hell and impossible to take seriously.
He was fine in season six, but from season seven onwards he became so over-the-top that he seemed more like an angry clown than an intimidating villain. It feels like the showrunners were desperate for a larger-than-life antagonist to fill the gap left by Ramsay Bolton's demise. That's understandable, but making Euron so cartoonishly evil wasn't the right way to do this.
Asbaek was let down by the writing too, but in general he entirely misjudged how this character should be. Hammy villains can work beautifully but they need to actually be frightening and this guy certainly wasn't.
