17 Hidden TV Show Gems On Amazon Prime

9. Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip

Orphan Black Clones Tatiana Maslany
NBC

Before The Newsroom, and even before his foray into movies such as The Social Network and Moneyball, Aaron Sorkin's first project after leaving The West Wing was comedy-drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Starring Matthew Perry, himself trying to move on from a hugely successful NBC series, it was a behind-the-scenes style show set on a live sketch show. It was perhaps unfortunate, however, that it debuted at the same time as another very similar show on the network, Tina Fey's 30 Rock.

While the latter ran for seven seasons and stands as one of the best sitcoms of recent years, Studio 60 lasted for just one season, the only Sorkin show to never make it to a second year. Despite that, early reviews were very favourable, and earned five Emmy nominations, and it contains many of the hallmarks you'd associate with a show from the West Wing creator.
