17 Shows To Binge-Watch Before They Return This Fall

4. Fargo

Did anyone want a TV series based on a mid-90€™s Coen brothers cult classic? Well, FX obviously did, but audiences weren€™t so sure. There are a lot of shows based on movies nowadays, usually greeted with skepticism and a lot of the time that€™s justified. Fargo, though, defied all expectations.

Starring Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, still in Minnesota but now in 2006, it was loosely tied to the movie and contained a lot of the same jet-black humour and violence, with a number of twists over the course of its ten-episode season.

It€™s an anthology series, meaning that it€™ll be new cast and a new story for season 2, with Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, and Patrick Wilson among the stars, and it€™ll take place back in 1979. One fantastic, critically-acclaimed 2014 anthology series has already started a disappointing second run, and hopefully Fargo can avoid the same pitfalls that have plagued True Detective season 2. Instead of worrying about that though, take the time to watch the first season.
