17 Shows To Binge-Watch Before They Return This Fall

1. The Walking Dead

No one could have predicted the success of The Walking Dead. It€™s based on a series of graphic novels, which fell rather outside the Marvel/DC mainstream, containing zombies (or €˜walkers€™), a rag-tap group of survivors in Southern America, and a huge amount of violence and gore.

It sounds like a show that might gain a cult following; it has instead become the biggest show on TV. It has broken a number of records for a cable series, with the season 5 premiere being watched by an astonishing 17.3 million people.

There is a lot of zombie action, and the special-effects on the show are absolutely superb thanks to Greg Nicotero, but it€™s the humans who provide the bigger threat. There€™s plenty of action and blood, a real threat of death (and the additional threat of coming back), and most of all some great characters. It€™s better to catch-up sooner rather than later, as given its monumental success it doesn€™t look like it€™ll be ending anytime soon, and the producers have already loosely spoken about going into double figures with the seasons.
