A stark-white sun lights up a rough grey landscape. A few seconds later, that sun is a surgical lamp, and that landscape a mesh of tendons and ribs. Later, a host plays a piano, only for the keys to press themselves in a pre-ordained melody. These strange opening credits are as perplexing and intriguing as Westworld itself.

Elastic is back at it again with Westworld’s thought-provoking titles. Robert Ford’s machines sew together and incorporate themes of autonomy and human consciousness through the hosts' creation.

There’s always the danger with thematic opening themes to confuse the audience with complex imagery. Yet Westworld’s opening credits are merely a brain-teaser to the perplexing questions and character journeys that follow.
