16. Lian Yu - Arrow

Arrow Season 5 wasn't the show back to its very best, but it massively improved on the past two years and, in a season all about legacy, got back to doing the basics very well.

That theme, with the battle between Oliver and Prometheus, came to a head in the breathtaking season finale. Arrow almost always nails its final episode of any given year, and this was no exception.

Fittingly, it takes us back to Lian Yu, to end things where it all began. To combat Prometheus' team, which includes Talia al Ghul, Black Siren, and Artemis, Oliver assembles his own: Deathstroke, Nyssa, Malcolm Merlyn, and Captain Boomerang, who together attempt to defeat Adrian Chase and rescue Ollie's friends and family.

It's a thrilling episode, one rich in both the action stakes and character dynamics; everyone gets a moment to shine, with some - such as the storyline with Thea and Malcolm - proving surprisingly touching, and others - like the reunion of Oliver and Slade - just incredibly exciting to watch, with great chemistry exhibited once again by the pair.

The action expertly builds to its dramatic climax, one which wraps a bow on the last five years of the show, and makes the future of the series a lot more exciting than a year before.
