13. The Hospital Bed - GLOW

GLOW's second season was, for the most part, an absolute blast. Fun, fast, and with all kinds of silliness, it offered up a whole lot of joy both in and out of the ring - and as a show-within-a-show too - but also knew when to take a more serious turn.

The rivalry and resentment between Debbie and Ruth has been at the heart of the show from the beginning, always simmering away under the surface even if they're forced to hide it away for the sake of the show. But with Ruth injured at Debbie's hand, there's a visit to the hospital, and everything comes boiling over.

The betrayals, the anger, the secrets, the shared history, it all comes to the forefront here as Betty Gilpin and Alison Brie trade emotional blows. The camerawork here is restrained, allowing the actresses raw performances to shine. GLOW may be known for its wrestling, but this is when it hit hardest, and got to the core of why the series is so brilliant.
