18 Things You Didn't Know About Game Of Thrones

6. Where Are The Horses, Podrick?

Jon And Dany
HBO

The filming of Game of Thrones spanned across multiple countries to deal with the different climates the characters would encounter during their travels. And with different countries come different laws. One particular law caused a pretty funny bit of rewriting.

During Podrick and Brienne's travels to hunt down Sansa and Arya Stark, Pod is clearly out of his depth and struggles to squire for Brienne. At one point, their horses get loose from their poorly tied knots and escape, leading to the odd couple carrying their own bags for the remainder of the season.

The film shoot moved between Ireland and Iceland, and due to laws regarding the importation of animals, the crew weren't allowed to bring their horses with them. Therefore this scene was written in as a way of explaining why the horses were no more.

It also explains why Arya and the Hound's steeds are nowhere to be seen, though an explanation for that is never shown on-screen.
