20 Actors Who Have Appeared In Both Classic And New Doctor Who

11. Pauline Collins

The story goes that Pauline Collins was offered a recurring role as Samantha Briggs, replacing Polly as the Second Doctor's companion, but she turned it down because she did not want to be limited to one role for any extended period of time. Instead, she appeared in only five episodes of the six-part serial The Faceless Ones (1967). In it, she investigates the disappearance of her brother and eventually teams up with the Doctor, Jamie, Ben, and Polly, who have witnessed some strange goings-on at the Gatwick Airport. Together they fight against the Chameleon, and at the end, she has a quick Jamie-snog. Perhaps equally as notable was her modern role as Queen Victoria in the Tenth Doctor episode Tooth and Claw, which featured the creation of Torchwood as well as the theory that the Royal Family are all werewolves. She is not amused.
