20 Best Episodes Of Better Call Saul
18. Slip (Season 3, Episode 8)
Slip is an episode all about falling into old habits, and finds the McGill brothers at a crossroads in their lives. Slippin' Jimmy returns with a vengeance when Jimmy runs low on cash, and Chuck, sure he can overcome his crippling disorder, pushing his body to become accustomed to electricity, with worrying results.
It's stressful to watch, Slip, because it finds each brother at the end of their rope. Jimmy's enjoying reverting to his old ways, and whilst it's entertaining, it's troubling to see him disappear so easily. Likewise, Chuck proves to be too far gone to save; watching him as he walks through a supermarket makes it clear he may be doomed.
The episode has some interesting developments for Kim and Howard, whose relationship is left in tatters following the Jimmy/Chuck trial earlier in the season, and Mike, who's steadily realising his new life will force him to make some changes.
Setting up big developments still to come, Slip is urgent and foreboding, and vital to revisit once the rest of the season reveals its secrets.
