20 Best Game Of Thrones Deaths (So Far)
"What do we say to the God of death?" "Not today."
With an average death count of over 100 per season, Game Of Thrones is one of the most lethal shows on TV.
From the very first episode in 2011, the writers have provided some truly creative and gruesome deaths: from exploding skulls to incineration by dragons, the battle for the Iron Throne has had it all. The series is renowned for scenarios being played out with entirely unforeseen outcomes, and it's made these grizzly endpoints that much more shocking.
With Season 5 unfolding on screens, the death toll is only set to rise higher. And now the show's going to moving ahead of George R. R. Martin's books there's no way even the most spoiler-prone fan can get the inside scoop on a tragic loss. Oh, and it will be tragic - Martin's proven himself as a proper sadist.
The mixture of unexpectedness and brutality means the show has had a much bigger emotional impact on its fans than anybody expected. Massacres like The Red Wedding left viewers moping and lazing around for a few days, whereas the death of Joffrey in The Purple Wedding was one of the happiest moments in TV history.
Here are the 20 best Game of Thrones deaths so far. Of course, spoilers await...
20. Yoren
Death By: Sword --- Killed By: Ser Amory Lorch
Yoren was a sworn brother to the Night's Watch and although he prevented Arya from witnessing the execution of her father, Eddard Stark, he could not prevent his own death while protecting her and Gendry in Season 2. Yoren takes an arrow to the chest and says: " I always hated crossbows. Take to long to load!" right before cutting the archers throat.
This was a real David vs Goliath fight, and Yoren went hacking and slashing his way through a crowd of enemies, yet he was impaled with a spear before Ser Amory Lorch drove his sword through the back of his neck, providing the inevitable outcome.
