Death By: Sword --- Killed By: Ser Meryn Tyrant
Syrio Forel is a master sword fighter, who teaches Arya how to use her sword 'Needle' in the Braavosi style, also know as the Water Dance. After Ned Stark is arrested for treason, Lannister soldiers are sent to retrieve her, but Forel nobly stands in their way.
Syrio says: "What do we say to the God of death?" after she replies with: "Not today.", he tells her to go and we're left to hear Syrio scream as Arya runs away, lumps emerging in our collective throats.
The relationship growing between the two makes this death harder to take, and a constant reminder to refrain from growing to like characters. It is easily one of the most emotional deaths in the show.
