Marvel really began to translate their movie success to the small screen this year, thanks to their partnership with Netflix delivering smash hits Daredevil and Jessica Jones. However, their first new TV show of 2015 was also a success, with Agent Carter airing back in January during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. mid-season break. Much like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Agent Carter managed to upstage it's elder Marvel brother, and was the first example of just how good a female-led Marvel series could be. Comparisons to the Netflix shows are a little unfair, as being on ABC it can't really go as dark, but what it does deliver is a period-piece-cum-spy-thriller, with Hayley Atwell excelling once more as Peggy Carter. With just 8 episodes the plot moved swiftly, but there was still time to get to know and care about the characters, and it gave us a couple of very entertaining villains as well, including the excellent Dottie Underwood, and there was a real sense of fun about the show that's often missing from S.H.I.E.L.D., while the action scenes were also on point.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
