20 Best TV Shows Of 2019
8. Watchmen
Watchmen was always going to go either way. The original graphic novel had a beloved cult following, the movie adaption was deeply divisive, and showrunner Damon Lindleof is Marmite made flesh. However, it all came together brilliantly, even if it left viewers scratching their heads initially.
The premiere of Watchmen was both near flawless and completely disconnected. It was confident enough to simply drop you into the deep end, with absolutely no explanations of anything. It didn’t work out for everyone, but it was the perfect attitude to have with an IP like Watchmen.
The visuals have continued to be stunning, while the narrative has kept twisting itself tighter and tighter as the series has progressed. Going into 2020, there’s a lot to be excited about. If Watchmen can pick up momentum, it can become a real titan of television going forward.
