20 Best TV Shows Of 2022
10. Andor
A TV prequel series to a prequel movie no one asked for, nobody expected Andor to be as great or popular as it was. But great it was, a brutally dark, moody study of a world Star Wars had spent years simply gliding over for the sake of a bigger, more magical story.
Andor has little of the family friendly flare of other Star Wars products. Its portrayal of the fascist Empire and the normal citizens under its control, desperate to fight back, is both timely and occasionally bleak, without Jedi or sassy droids. This is a show about the birth of rebellion, populated by people who feel real and heroic.
Anchored by a host of compelling stars, including Diego Luna and a speechifying Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Andor is a slow-burn drama of resounding power and storytelling. You'll be re-watching it again and again until its second season debuts in far-off 2024.
